We did not know, what will happen in the next 4 minutes. I was filming the approach for my personal video files, than it happens. The crash. Right after the crash, we don't knew what was happening. We all survived. This video shows the approach to the altiport megève. Both, the pilot and the mountain rate teacher have several thousands of flight hours and a huge experience, but it happens, that...

I guess it happens. The Alarm was screaming away. My plane has fixed gear so I have never had to deal with my brain ignoring the gear alarm.

So you didn't think to investigate what was causing the alarm before you hit the ground? And this pilot has over a thousand hours of flying experience? We all make mistakes sometimes, even professional pilots, but ignoring an alarm mid-air is not something that should be forgotten.

Hey seduke1968, do you have an email address at which we could contact you regarding this video? We would be interested to discuss a license to use this video if this is generally possible? (i.e. via email) :) Cheers, Felix

I always had two sets of checks to be completed at 300' and 500' either taking off or landing: 300' - PUFF: Power set and checked, Undercarriage as required (up for Take off, Down for landing) Flaps (as required) Fuel (quantity checked, tanks selected, pumps as required) 500' - PUFFIN: Power set and checked, Undercarriage checked (up during T/O, down during landing), Flaps (as required), Fuel (quantity checked. Pumps as required). The important thing is to not to just 'go through the motions'... but to actually SAY the item and then CHECK the item. PUFF and PUFFIN. Never failed me even during high stress situations.

That pilot needs a boxing glove on an arm that comes out of the dash and bashes him in the face when the landing gear is not down blaring alarms are not good enough. Having 1000's of hours does not change the fact that everyone is human and that is why we use a written checklist before takeoff and before landing.

Even without a checklist, a simple GUMPS check would have sufficed to prevent the pilot from making a total arse of himself. No excuse, pas d'excuse. And all that with an instructor on board... Boggles the mind... Alarms anyone??? at $419,000 base, the 2004 Trinidad GT is more expensive than either the Cirrus SR-22 or Lancair Columbia 300

So, an alarm that loud, didn't notify to you that the landing gear wasn't down? What do you need, a headrest mounted rubber mallet, that smacks you in the head, followed by a drop down visor mounted arm, that reaches down and pulls the gear lever, and gives you a handy? I guess that the punishment for forgetting those tire things that cause a soft landing, is a full bellypan replacement, a full engine rebuild, a new prop, and possibly paying the tractor guy, and maybe runway repair.. If your prop tips are damaged that bad, you need a new engine. On the bright side, you don't need a transmission replacement along with the engine. At least the doors still worked. PS: Stop wearing your sweaters around your necks.. it's not the 80s. you don't get extra points now.
